Peter Schneider: A maker of things
The word "maker" has become a bit overused over the last couple of years, so I was hesitant to attach myself to it. I've realized that the thing that bothers me about the word is that it tends to be applied in a way meant to promote people who have found a very specific creative venture that they are trying to market for profit. It is rarely used to describe a persons nature. The truth of my life is that I create things, and although this website is primarily meant to showcase my work as a graphic designer, my experience in making things goes far beyond that. I grew up fixing bicycles and building forts. My fine art background covers everything from painting to printmaking to sculpture. I have been paid to be a carpenter, a plumber, and an electrician. I am an excellent cook. I am a terrible guitarist.
Above all, I make things.
